Assessing the Quality of Reporting to China’s National TB Surveillance Systems

(1) Background: The reliability of disease surveillance may be restricted by sensitivity or ability to capture all disease. Objective: To quantify under-reporting and concordance recording persons with tuberculosis (TB) in national TB systems: the Infectious Disease Reporting System (IDRS) Tuberculosis Information Management (TBIMS). (2) Methods: This retrospective review includes 4698 patients identified 2016 China. County staff linked from facility-specific health laboratory information systems records IDRS TBIMS. Under-reporting was calculated, timeliness, concordance, accuracy, completeness were analyzed. Multivariable logistic regression used examine factors associated under-reporting. (3) Results: We found that 505 (10.7%) missing within 1451 (30.9%) Of 171 patient reviewed 170 TBIMS, 12.3% 6.5% untimely, 10.7% 7.1% have an inconsistent home address. risk both TBIMS greatest at tertiary facilities among non-residents; aged 65 older extrapulmonary (EPTB). (4) Conclusions: It is important improve reporting patients. Local programs focus on training, mentoring high-burden hospitals, cater EPTB, migrant recording.
